The absolutely fabulous statement sandal can be your best friend when Spring hits – it is daring, fashion-forward and savvy, and most importantly the easiest way to accessorise and make your look stand out!
I am absolutely in love with my pair of Jester Kurt Geiger sandals that are tricolor in Aztec print with a lace-up bow at the front. The perfect pair to kick off the season of warmer weather and barer legs – so how to style it without overdoing it? The key is to make the look feel harmonious and centered around the shoe as they bring the whole outfit together. So grab yourself a pair of chic statement shoes, and let’s get styling!
TIP: Create your Outfit Around the Shoe
The best way to style a pair of bold sandals is to focus on the shoe itself and bring in pieces to wear from your wardrobe around it. I tend to always pick up an item that I really feel like wearing, and once I have that in mind I can easily put together a cohesive and fashionable outfit!
Think about key details in the shoe that you can bring in to the overall look, such as the color, the print, even the shape and visual style! If you’re wearing mules, you can wear an off-the-shoulder top, and if you’re wearing bold blue sneakers you can add a cobalt blue scarf!
TIP: Go for Simplistic Clothing
The easiest way to rock a statement shoe without the fear of overdoing it is to go for basics. Wearing simple clothing will accentuate the shoe as well as your shape, and will make you look effortless and fabulous at the same time! Basic pieces such as a flowing off-the shoulder top and structured trousers will make you look amazingly chic and put together – they definitely give a little unexpected edge to a simply sophisticated outfit!
I would also recommend keeping in line with the colors that are in the shoe, so for in my case my Kurt Geiger shoes have red, black and white in them, and I am therefore styling my look in black and white. If your pair of shoes is a bold orange for example, you can accentuate their color by wearing navy blue or grey – a more subtle palette.
TIP: Don’t Forget to Accessorise!
I can’t say it enough, accessorising is key to your final look! It doesn’t feel complete until you add that feminine rose gold necklace, a bangle and a few rings as well as a classic black bag – feel free to experiment here and match the shoes with your jewelry, it will add an amazing touch!
