London Fashion Week has kicked off for Spring/Summer ’16, and I am delighted to show you all the amazing shows and presentations I’ve had the opportunity to see during the first and second day! Fashion Week is always a very exciting time for me, and for the Fashion industry as a whole, as we get to look ahead at the upcoming trends for the next season and get inspired by so many emerging and talented designers!
What I love about the London style is its diversity and boldness, so scroll down to see the collections which are all unique in their own way! I would love to know what looks you like best!
OMER ASIM: His SS16 collection featured bold colors, emphasising on color-blocking and architectural prints on the garments. The vibrancy of the pieces is what stood out to me, as I always find it daring to use such bright and contrasting colors! On the opposite end, Omer Asim also had a monochrome palette, consisting of neutral shades, greys and black, to focus our attention more on the detail and construction of the garments.
JUDY WU: What captured me most about this collection was its youthfulness, whilst still being sophisticated, flirty and feminine! The pastel color palette suited the theme perfectly, illustrating a soft and gentle woman with a tougher edge – and she certainly isn’t afraid to try something new! I just loved the modern silhouettes and interesting prints – I would wear it all!
THREE FLOOR: New and upcoming fashion label Three Floor showcased their very first presentation during London Fashion Week this season, and it surely was a success! As you know, I am all about femininity and chic, modern looks. Three Floor played with a soft color palette for SS16, with most garments being longer silhouettes to outline a certain sweetness and innocence in their women. I’m looking forward to seeing more of this brand!
STEVENTAI: A playful and amusing presentation, Steventai‘s collection showcased beautifully made garments with intricate detail, themed around a ‘School-Girl Party’ look. The girls were dressed in stunning clothing, with the fun use of ruffles, hand-sewn flowers and mesh transparency, although instead of being at a party they were stuck in the classroom. I certainly loved the playful idea, and the collection was composed of stunning silhouettes and luxurious fabrics with a relaxed yet fashionable look!
MOON J: Another very strong show this season was Moon J, with the collection being titled ‘Don’t label me!’, as the designer wanted to express how we should always find ways to live happily although in a pressured world. The line was modern, feminine, and portrayed a strong woman who sets her goal and lives up to it! I loved the playful use of different tonal colors, and boxy silhouettes to emphasise character.
PERSEPHONI: The first accessories presentation I had been to during Fashion Week, and I have to say I fell in love with this brand! A collection of bags that played with modern, geometric structures, fun colors, and brought out a whole new style to accessorising! Isn’t this rectangular shaped bucket bag the cutest?!
PAM HOGG: London is certainly known for its avant-garde fashion, which is exactly what Pam Hogg brought to us in their SS16 catwalk show this season! It was a combination of historical garment structures, such as the shoulder pads and long suited vests, and very modern shapes. The designer used a lot of bold colors, prints and writing to deliver a strong message – and it was without a doubt an entertaining show!
LE KILT: The Le Kilt presentation brought us back to school, reminiscing on youthful memories and late night parties with the ‘cool-girl’ attitude! A subtle collection with a darker color palette, versatile pieces and a truly British vibe that consisted of tailored blouses and kilts.
ASHLEY ISHAM: To finish off this Day 1 and Day 2 LFW recap, the Ashley Isham show was one that certainly put a smile a smile on my face and brightened up the room with its enthusiastic vibes and ‘Summer Pool-Party’ theme! The collection consisted of a mix between swimwear, more casual day dresses, and stand-out eveningwear, all with a playful twist that makes us think of a Hawaiian beach party!
I hope you enjoyed this LFW show recap of the first two days, and got some fashion inspiration for the spring! Let me know in the comments which collections are your favorite, and have you heard of these designers before?
