Boyfriend jeans, known to often be quite baggy and typically low-rise, are a tough one – but if worn right, they can really make your outfit both comfy and effortless, and you don’t have to be a ‘model off duty’ to wear them!
This pair is actually my first boyfriend jean – I have wanted to buy one for so long but just couldn’t find the right one for my shape.. Either they are too baggy, too low or too destroyed and don’t fit right, but once I found the pair, I absolutely loved the ‘casual-cool’ look they gave off!
Those of you who follow my blog quite often know I’m in no way ‘boyish’ and I don’t often wear oversized clothes – but it doesn’t mean I don’t love to experiment with styles and make a ‘boyish’ look a bit more girly! Boyfriend jeans in this case can be worn on anyone, tall, thin, and any size! You just need to find the right pair for you and wear them with the right items!
So here are my top tips for rocking the boyfriend jean:
1. Wearing the boyfriend jean usually means going basic, so it gives off that effortless look that you kind of just threw on anything and you were good to go (although, not really!). I always pair my boyfriend jeans with a plain t-shirt (in my case a white slouchy tee) – it can be baggy or tight-fitted, but tucked under your jean just slightly gives it that simplicity you are going for!
2. Pairing it with a jacket or cropped blazer on top makes the look more put together and feminine, yet still relaxed. Here is where you play with your look and wear one with unique detail! I’m wearing a blue fringed textured jacket from Maje, and I love the matching tones in both the jacket and the jean!
3. Accessorize! I’m a firm believer that accessorizing just makes the final look. When I wear something quite simple and casual, I like to dress it up a little by wearing lots of bracelets and a long necklace. For a statement, I also really like sporting platform heels with boyfriend jeans – it makes you look taller and so effortlessly chic!
