Denim Culottes & Fringe Jacket x MonShowroom

Denim culottes, and culottes in general, have been one of the IT trends of the moment for seasons already since the big comeback of the 70s (with flares, bell-bottoms and high-waisted jeans fitting in as well)! As fashionable as they are on the catwalk and on thousands of effortlessly cool and edgy street style pictures, they might just be one of the trickiest trends to wear!

I fell in love with the denim culotte trend a while back, but had never gotten hold of a pair myself. The issue I had was mainly what I should wear on top, and what the right season was to wear them. As culottes are cropped to the ankle, wearing them during Winter seemed difficult – wouldn’t I get too cold? But these too-short pants with an exaggerated wideleg and mumsy behind are actually very stylish and also, very very easy to wear!

In collaboration with one of my favorite online shopping sites of the moment, MonShowroom, I’ve decided to give denim culottes a go – and show you a super simple and ultra chic way to style up your pair this mid-season!

I love a high-waisted pant, and luckily culottes do exactly that! As they are ankle-cropped, they pretty much look amazing on any size and body shape – without even wearing heels! I’ve decided to go for a Parisian chic and feminine look, my little twist on this 70s inspired trend. When wearing culottes, especially in slightly colder weather, I feel it looks very classy to style them with a tucked-in turtleneck sweater, and this cream-colored one goes so well with the pastel and soft tone of the outfit! Anything simple on top works with culottes, from sweaters to crop tops – which adds a nice shape to accentuate the waist.

With anything tucked-in however, I would recommend wearing a fitted jacket or short coat on top to show off that the culottes sit high on the waist. Paired with a fun and flirty suede fringe jacket, it uplifted the look completely and gave more dimension and movement! Give me all things fringe please! But to top it off, I went the extra mile for that modern 70s inspired look by adding a chic fedora hat and chunky boots.

Accessories are also key and they are great to play with when styling your denim culottes! My little Valentino rockstud bag was the perfect addition to this chic look and the colors paired well with the hat! For jewelry I decided to go minimal as there was already so much happening in the outfit with the cropped trousers, fringe jacket and fedora – so I just wore my new Rue Gembon Lana rings, which added an edgy touch to the final look!

  1. Such a cute look! I haven’t busted out my old culottes for a while (definitely not in the culotte trend season) but I should wear them at least once before the trend fades away again! You pulled off the look flawlessly. Love the denim pairing with the blush shades.
