5 Key Pieces to Invest in This Spring

With Spring in full swing, it’s officially time to inject some new seasonal pieces into our wardrobes. This season we’re already seeing popular trends coming in stores, polka dots are back and revamped, ultraviolet is the pantone color of the year, and yes – there’s wicker bags too! But with new trends always comes the need for investment pieces, spring essentials which will last you season after season. So here’s a roundup of five key pieces to invest in this Spring, all inspired by of my favorite shopping destinations in the U.K. – centre:mk.

As a brief overview, centre:mk is a one-stop destination in the heart of Milton Keynes (a beautiful town that’s only a 30-minute train ride from Central London)! It’s the perfect place to go for a weekend out for shopping and dining – plus they carry loads of great brands such as Pandora, Kurt Geiger, River Island and retailers such as House of Fraser, John Lewis and M&S. Now, let’s talk fashion essentials you NEED this Spring!

PASTELS

Pastels are such a classic, staple color and the perfect palette to add into your spring wardrobe! Think lilacs, baby pink, ocean blue, mint green and the list goes on – you will never go out of fashion with a good pastel look. As ultraviolet is this year’s pantone color, with that comes Lilac too. This purple shade communicates originality and visionary thinking – style it in either a full head-to-toe look or incorporate the lilac shade into one piece (such as a blazer or jumper) or an accessory.

You could never go wrong with a classic linen shirt from M&S at centre:mk in baby pink (£27) for a casual weekend out or for office attire, it’s the perfect pastel piece for this season!

An all-year-round essential, especially here in Britain, is the classic trench. It is such an effortless and versatile piece to be worn with a spring dress underneath or a beautiful lace top and jeans, the options are certainly endless! Black, beige, or printed, the trench coat doesn’t go out of style and it’s certainly a piece worth investing in for the British summer!

Go for a classic in nude, like this one from Hobbs (£199), and you can’t go wrong!

SUMMER FLORALS

A trend that comes around year after year, season after season, florals have made themselves a wardrobe essential and a print that you can never go wrong with. This spring/summer, play around with different floral printed pieces and colors: add brights into your closet as well as more toned-down, saturated prints for versatility. Try going for a subtle pattern for everyday wear, such as Jigsaw’s Mini Splash Dress (£120) in navy.

Whether your style is timeless-chic, sweet and feminine or a little edgy, I assure you there’s a summer floral print for you!

FRINGING

This last one is a little bit of fun. Although fringing may have started as a trend, it is definitely here to stay as a spring essential! If you think that fringing isn’t for you – just wait till you see some of the ways in which you can wear it this season.. Think modern folklore, beautiful and subtle feminine dresses or even military-inspired jackets, as in the Balmain SS18 show!

This beautiful fringe piece from Next (£179) is a great statement this spring!
